We ask companies to trust us with what their people really think, so we hold ourselves to the same standard with anything you share here. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect when you visit this site or book a call, and what we do with it.
Who we are
This website is operated by Portlight Creative, a strategic storytelling and culture consulting firm based in Sacramento, California. GroundTruth is our culture diagnostic for founder-led companies. When this policy says “we,” “us” or “our,” it means Portlight Creative. This policy explains what information we collect through thefoundersethos.com, what we do with it, and the choices you have.
This policy covers this website and the fit call you can book from it. The conversations we hold with a company’s people during a GroundTruth engagement are governed by the confidentiality terms of that engagement, which we agree with each client in writing before any interview takes place.
What we collect
What you give us. When you book a fit call, our scheduling provider, Calendly, collects your name, your email address, the time you choose and any answers you add to the booking questions, such as which of the three situations sounds most like yours. If you email or call us, we receive whatever you choose to share in that message.
What is collected automatically. Like nearly every website, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which record details such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the time of each request. We use those logs only to keep the site running and secure. We do not run analytics, advertising pixels or tracking tools on this site, and our own pages set no cookies.
Services that load on this site
A few trusted services help this site work, and each one receives some technical information when it loads in your browser:
- Calendly powers the calendar on our booking page. It sets its own cookies and handles your booking details under Calendly’s privacy notice (opens in a new tab).
- Google provides the typefaces this site uses through Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when the fonts load, and our calls take place on Google Meet. Both are covered by Google’s privacy policy (opens in a new tab).
- Bluehost hosts this website and keeps the server logs described above.
How we use it
We use the information you share to schedule and hold your call, to prepare for the conversation, to follow up with you about GroundTruth, and to answer questions you send us. We use server logs only to operate and protect the site. We do not add you to a mailing list or newsletter without asking you first.
How long we keep it
We keep booking details and correspondence for as long as they are useful to our relationship with you and for ordinary business records, and then we delete them. You can ask us to delete your information sooner at any time, and we will, unless the law requires us to keep it.
Your choices
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to us at the address below. We will respond within thirty days. You can also cancel or reschedule a booked call using the link in your Calendly confirmation email.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Some browsers send a signal asking sites not to track you. We do not track visitors across websites or over time, so this site behaves the same whether or not your browser sends that signal.
How we protect it
This site is served over an encrypted connection, and we limit access to booking information to the people at Portlight Creative who need it to work with you. No method of storing or sending information online is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable care to protect what you share with us.
Children
This website is meant for business leaders and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16, and if we learn that we have, we will delete it.
Visitors outside the United States
We are based in the United States and our service providers store information here. If you visit from another country, your information will be processed in the United States. Visitors whose devices are set to a European time zone will see Calendly’s cookie notice on our booking page and can choose which cookies to allow.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date at the top. If a change is significant, we will say so clearly on this page before it takes effect.
